I decided to watch this movie after seeing it both in gay interest and seeing the names Marnie Alton and Jennfer Tilly side by side. Sadly they don’t lez it up (I think Jennifer Tilly has had her fair share by now!).
This film is a bit of a cheese fest and can be seriously cringe worthy in parts but its heart is in the right place. Eve a young would be artist is running a diner after her mum died. She is in love with her brothers best friend who notices every girl except her. All this changes when a beautiful woamn comes to town and starts directing her affections towards Eve.
Cute, cheesy, but watchable this film is one of those nobrainer movies that you can just put on for a bit of a giggle!

Gray Matters is the story of a brother and sister who fall in love with the same woman. Gray has to come to terms with her sexuality and he brother has to come to terms with his sisters sexuality and his own feelings.
This films is beautiful, Heather Graham plays the part of a woman who has suddenly had her sexuality thrown into question when she falls for the gorgeous Bridget Moynahan -who happens to be her brothers fiance. Its a great support film for those coming out later in life and also shows that Hollywood is producing more rom-coms with gay storylines, fit for a younger audience. It also hosts a great supporting cast with the likes of Molly Shannon and Alan Cumming.

Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant star in the story of a has-been 80′s pop star who has been asked to write a song for the most up and coming artist around. Grant is the 80′s icon who is asked to write the song but is struggling to find inspiration and Barrymore is there to look after his plants and lends a hand in the song writing when he realises she is a writer.
Great idea this film and Both leads are strong actors so you would expect more, however this film falls flat and fails to impress. The humour is flat, the singing from Grant and Barrymore is awful and the story line is so predictable its painful to watch. Very disappointing.

While looking for the 2002 version of Kiss the Bride which has Alyssa Milano in, I came across this version which has gay men and Tori Spelling… fair trade I thought.
Kiss the Bride is a cute average romcom with a gay twist. Matt is a high flyer in the world of gay magazine and he is shooting a magazine special on gay weddings. He recieves plenty of invites to gay weddings which he discards but misses one… it just happens to be an invite to his first loves wedding to an Alex…
On discovering Alex (Tori Spelling) is a girl he goes on a “my best friends wedding”/humanitarian “i’m going to bring back a dusty little child” (Angelina Jolie reference) mission to make sure Ryan isn’t making the biggest mistake of his life.
This film is soooo sweet and really very very funny. Its from the makers of Sweet Home Alabama, and has the same kind of feel to it just without the budget! If your looking for some escapism or a bit of light relief after a hard week this one is definitely worth a watch.

Will Smith stars as Hancock, a conflicted, reluctant superhero whose well-intentioned heroics cause a mass of destructive in their wake. The people of Los Angeles have finally had enough of him, and are calling for him to go to jail, but the last person he saves just happens to want to save him.
I love Will Smith films as a rule and I also like superhero films. I really didn’t like Hancock. The acting was stiff, the storyline was patchy and predictable and I almost fell asleep. I think this film would suit a far younger audience who would probably enjoy the “comedic” stunts, but even on Charlise Theron’s arrival into the film I still couldn’t wait for it to finish.

The first time I saw this movie I was in an awful mood when I was about to go into the cinema and didn’t really think an action movie was quite right for me… I was soooo wrong! I came out the cinema pretending to be an assassin… Probably not one of those things you should share!
Wanted is about a hypochondriac officer worker called Wesley (James McAvoy), whose whole life feels completely insignificant to him. His girlfriend is cheating on him with his best friend, he hates his job and he is on meds to stop what he believes are panic attacks.
Enter Fox (Angelina Jolie). She is an assassin from a group called the fraternity and she is there to recruit him to avenge the death of his father. They can bend bullets, shoot the wings off a fly and perform fantastic car stunts… but not all is as it seems…
Think the Matrix meets the Fast and the Furious and you are somewhere near how amazingly action packed this film is!

I’m probably providing the bias view here for this film so that’s why I have been umming and ahhing over whether to review it, but i thought to hell with it!
Its my favourite movie. I obsessively followed the film prior to the DVD release on Writer-Director Katherine Brooks’ myspace. I love everything about it and I’m going to tell you why.
Some might think the idea of a Catholic boarding school teacher and a student falling for each other is a bit kinky… well to tell you the truth so did I before I saw the film but now, its beautiful. Annabelle, played so perfectly by Erin Kelly, is the rebellious teenage lesbian who smokes, drinks, writes songs (typical lesbian angst!) and rejects all rules. Simone (Diane Gaidry) is the teacher assigned to take charge of the freespirit and bring her back down to earth. Only it doesn’t quite happen like that with instant attraction between the leads causing Simone to realise how much like Annabelle she used to be at her age and falling for her against her will.
The supporting cast as well as the fantastic soundtrack and sets used, make this film a work of art. Erin Kelly and Diane Gaidry have fantastic chemistry, making the age difference between them seem so irrelivent and you find yourself reminising over your crushes on your old school teachers and imagining what could have been…

It seems I’m having a bit of a Gina Gershon themed week, but I had to put out my feelings on ‘one of the worst films of all time’!
I’m actually one of the cult following of this film, from the makers of Basic Instinct and think it’s a smutty, thinly plotted romp that you just have to see! If you can get past the attempt at a rags to riches and back again tale that this film is trying to tell them you might just get the fun side. Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley) is a dancer and she is making her wage at a seedy lapdancing club when she meets Cristal (Gina Gershon) who happens to be the headliner at the biggest show in Vegas. Cristal and her lover Zach give Nomi the chance to dance on the show but soon Cristal’s headfuck ways start to get to Nomi and driven by her desire to be the big star everything starts to fall down around her.
Elizabeth Berkley blames this film for killing her career but I think her acting in the film was horrific. Gina Gershon and Kyle MacLachlan steal this show and Gershon plays the superbitch role to perfection. Having said the above about Berkley I still think that this film wouldn’t be the guilty pleasure it is without her!
Throw away your critical mind and sit down to enjoy this trashy movie and you won’t be dissapointed!

Made in 1996 by the Wachowski Brothers, who are behind the Matrix films, Bound is a magnificent thriller of which is still watchable 12 years on.
The films story line is beautifully crafted and the visual effects (cameras passing through walls to link up, etc) are great. There are very few sets and characters in this movie and that works really well and gives the viewer more time to be drawn deeper into the plot.
The main characters are Corky, a butch ex con played to perfection by Gina Gershon, Violet a mafia moll played by Jennifer Tilly and Ceasar a money launderer for the mob played by Joe Pantoliano.
Violet is a lesbian trapped in her mob lifestyle and also prostitution by Ceasar. She is instantly attracted to Corky and they become closer and Violet realises the only way to get out is to get Corky to help her come up with a fool proof plan to take the mob for millions and make their new life together.
The first half is strictly build up but its in noway boring and the second half will have you on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns in the plot that the viewers are aware of but Ceasar isn’t are magnificently played by the female leads and the twists that we aren’t aware of will keep you guessing until the end.
I think this film has achieved its cult success as it really does appeal to men and women which is unusual for a film of this genre. I also think that the fact that the main characters are a same sex couple isn’t an issue at all in the eyes of the viewer, we are all just routing for them!
